Taylor Oakes is an artist, model, photographer, and educator — and she brings all of that to her work teaching boudoir content creation. This session was part of a small group workshop she led on creating intimate imagery for social media: an honest, generous deep-dive into a genre that is more technically and emotionally demanding than it looks.
What made the day particularly valuable was Taylor's perspective as someone who has spent as much time in front of the camera as behind it. She guided us through posing, through creating feeling, through the subtle art of drawing emotion out of a moment rather than manufacturing it.
A boudoir session isn't about how you look. It's about how it feels to stop hiding — and to be met, exactly as you are, with nothing left out.

What I bring to every session.
I've been making images for over 17 years. In that time I've worked with actors, artists, executives, and everyday people who simply wanted to be seen — really seen — in a photograph. Boudoir work draws on all of it: the technical precision, the patience, the ability to read a room and know when to push and when to wait.
I know that as an Ottawa and Gatineau photographer, The most important thing I bring to a boudoir session isn't a camera. It's the ability to make someone comfortable enough to forget they're being photographed. That comfort is where the real images live. It takes experience to find it quickly, and care to hold it once you do.
Every person who sits in front of my lens brings something worth capturing. My job is simply to find the angle, the light, the moment — and to make sure what comes back to you reflects who you actually are.
